ABout the Stages

ELITE LADIES START AT WATERPOORT 140 KM

Stage 1 -53 km

The early morning winter chill will soon disappear as you start to make your way up to the Soutpansberg mountain pass,awaiting is your Longest Uphill push. Passing the Highest Point 1300m above sea level about 10 km out of town.

No…we are not done yet. You start descending the mountain, just before it gets to “lekker” your steepest uphill climb, will make you want more…its downhill from there to Waterpoort.

CAUTION: ONE TURN TO WATERPOORT

Enjoy our “local is lekker’ cuisine on the first stop, a fresh serving of fruit, scones, muffins, yogurt and a steaming hot cup of coffee or tea.  Lets get the energy going , grab a energy bar, sandwiches and the well known ‘Special Soup’ before the next start.

Stage 2 -48km

What you need to know is:

It’s a fast stage pass the Saltpans.These mountains are 130 kilometres long, utterly majestic in their expanses. The region’s name hails from the salt pans that have continued to be mined at the foot of the mountains since the 1800’s , driving past our beautiful Kremetart Trees and scenic Bush veld route . Our next stop is a slow climb tot Vivo is  Vivo, for a relaxing lunch.

CAUTION: FOR TWO TURNS TO VIVO

Don’t forget to grab some H2O at every stage, get your carbs on with some Pasta, Burgers and two freshly served salads.

Stage 3 -52km

Vivo,the name is thought to be derived from Sepedi phefo, ‘cold wind’, though it has been stated that the hills resemble the spelling of ‘Vivo’ when seen from a certain angle. Full of energy, ready to get rough and tough against the famous headwind. Look out for the Railway Crossing and then a uphill to Schoemansdal Environmental Center.

Before the last Stage get a big serving of Pancakes (Just like your Gran use to make), Coffee or Tea and other beverages, thank you to our lovely ladies from the Old Age Home, Laat Lente for their baking contribution.

Stage 4 – 22 km

Start at Schoemansdal,  there is a long standing history of Schoemansdal, the Environmental Center puts the adventure back in our lives with great Team Building and Adventure Trails to the peak of Soutpansberg Mountains. In the beautiful unspoiled surroundings on the foot hills , waits the last stretch,back to Louis Trichardt

CAUTION: FOR ONE TURN TO ANDERSON STREET

The prize giving ends off with our famous and hearty Potjiekos with a Vegetarian option this year!
